LGB 10345 shuttle control short cycles
Posted by bmartinpe on Thursday, December 24, 2020 10:12 PM

I installed the LGB 10345 shuttle control and the loco will start up then reverse before reaching the break in the track where the diode is connected. The loco will travel a short distance, reverse, travel again and reverse again over and over until it finally runs off the end of the track. After it passes the diode, it continues to the end of the track and runs off it. Checked that the rail breaks are on the same side of the track. Checked to see that the diodes are pointed in the same direction. Checked to see that the track power and transformer power leads are according to the diagram. Please help, Bill Martin, Nashville, Tennessee

Dumb question, I know... but you're not applying DCC power, are you?

Welcome to the forums!

First of all, some housekeeping.  As a new member, you'll be subject to moderation for a few posts, which helps keep the forum family friendly.  Your posts won't appear immediately, but they will get there.

These forums are mostly visited by HO and N scale modelers.  For your question, I would try the Classic Toy Train forum or the Garden Railways forum.  They're more familiar with larger scale equipment and probably know more than us "little guys."

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

First post though, so still moderated.

As for the topic at hand - I don;t know how that device senses the train is at the ends and needs to reverse, but I suspect it is picking up electrical noise from the sensor wires running too close to the track power wires, or to AC power wires, causing a false detection and reversing the loco.
