Digitrax Evolution power problem
Posted by Erie-diamond on Saturday, September 26, 2020 6:59 PM

I just recently purchased the Digitrax Evolution starter set with duplex radio system. It works really well and I'm pleased with it but still in the learning curve of using the throttle and how to use all the functions. However I encountered a slight proble with the PS615 power supply that came with it. It has a plug that plugs into the DCS 210 box. It appears the plug and the recepticle do not match correctly. It is plugged in all the way but is not a really tight fit and if you just touch the wire it looses connection and you have to make sure it is proped just right to keep the connection. Has anyone run into this before and what is the solution other then sending it back to Digitrax? Thank you in advance for any help with this, Ken

I just bought the DCS210 by itself to "upgrade" my DCC system. Since I'm using an 8 amp power supply I wired my input to the left-most screw terminals on the multi-pin plug.

You could do the same thing if you do not want to deal with sending your command station back to Florida. Cut the plug off the PS615, tin the wire ends (not necessary but helpful) then use a meter to be sure you have the polarity correct,  although some wall warts  I've encountered have  red / black  wires under   the  jacket  to designate     + and then secure them into the alternate power input terminals.

The barrel socket is soldered to the PC board inside and may have gotten broken somehow. Seems a shame for a brand new component. Sometimes Digitrax warranty work requires several weeks for turnaround.

Good Luck, Ed

Thanks Ed. I checked and everything seems solid. It's more like the plug isn't the right one for the socket. Anyway, I will probably do as you said and wire to the terminals and do away with the plug.

I'm having the same issue with my DCS 210.  Did you find a solution to this problem?
