Just got a UT4 to go with my DCS51. Get better control out of main unit than out of the UT4. In port 1 it would increase and decrease in speed, on port 2 it did much better but not as well as main unit. In fact one time I stopped the engine and put it in brake and it started to move. This only happened once and have not been able to get it to do this again, but thought it weird.
The same address is selected on the throttle of the DCS51 is the most likely cause. With two potentiometer throttles, they will fight each other like that.
Unless you have saved consists in the DCS51, do a full reset, this will clear everything out of it. Then try again with the UT4.
The other thing - when you speed up the loco using the DCS51 throttle, does the brake light flash untilt he loco reaches speed? Unless you changed it, the DCS51 implements a throttle based momentum for acceleration and braking so the responses aren't as sudden, the UT4 doesn't do this, so if you've come to rely on this, even without thinking about it, moving the throttle knob on the UT4 will result in more sudden changes of the loco speed than the throttle knob on the DCS51.

Several of my UT- throttles will not "zero" when the potentiometer is all the way CCW. I have to place the direction switch in the center or the locomotive will drift.

Yeah, didn't know about it reading both, that was the problem. So is it possible to have the same settings in both as far as momentum?
Just started it up again on main mode, no flashing brake so whoever owned it before must have changed it. The DCS51 is the only second hand item I am using.
