NCE Power Cab vs. Twin

NCE Power Cab vs. Twin

It seems from looking at them, the Twin would be easier to expand than the Power Cab.  They are both the same amperage and the Twin is a lot cheaper even if you add an extra throttle or two.   What am I missing?

There is a booster to expand to five amps avvailable when using the Power Cab and you can put in connectors to move the hand piece and the loco will keep running. I added a throttle to my Power Cab some years ago.

I have never used the twin. It did not exist when I bought my Cab.

Look at all the specs at the NCE site. Manuals are there.

Portability and the lack of an LCD screen would be the main thing.

I have my programming track upstairs in my office rather than on my layout.  I can do all my programming with my Power Cab upstairs then bring it down into the basement to run it on the layout.  If I need to tweak something then I can just use either programming mode or POM (programming on the main) mode with my Power Cab to make the changes.

Programming mode also allows me to read back the CV values using the LCD screen on my Power Cab.  You would need a ProCab throttle to read back those values if used with the Twin.

 To get the equivalent of a PowerCab, you'd have to buy the Twin plus a ProCab throttle. THat will cost significantly more than the PowerCab plus a Cab06 throttle, and the Cab06 as a second throttle on the PowerCab will give you a lot more capability than the built in throttles on the Twin.
