Locksound decoder function buttons and JMRI

Randy.  Thx.  That worked.

Using JMRI 4.18.  Under Edit/Preferences/Roster/Programmer is a pull-down box where the preferred decoder programmer format can be set.  I changed that setting to 'Advanced'.  Now when I open the programmer for a Locsound decoder there is a 'Function Labels' tab where I can add labels for the other frequently used buttons.  Grand!

Peter - I see your locale set to Sherwood Park.  That is also my location - just off Baseline and Cloverbar.  D'ya think spring will ever come?

Hello all.
(Hope this message find you all healthy and safe.)

My need is simple.

I've recently purchased a Walther P2k GP9 fitted with a Loksound Select sound decoder.  I want to control said loco with a tablet running Engine Driver through JMRI Wifi Connected Throttle.  I've been able to make this work - I can control the speed, light and horn.

With other locos I've been able to edit the 'Function Button Definition' page in JMRI to ID what the different function buttons do.  This page is missing for the Loksound locomotives.

So - what need I do so that all the function buttons for sound effects (bell, coupler, DB, etc.) can be initiated from Engine Driver via JMRI Wifi Throttle?

[side note]  I have searched the JMRI groups.io pages for some help and admit that I was unable to comprehend a solution.  [end side note]

Your best option is to ask about that issue on the JMRI mailing list on GroupsIO.  The fellow that wrote most of the LokSound defintions is a regular poster there. Be sure to indicate what version of JMRI you are using as well.

 I just checked, though this is not something I actually use. In the Comprehensive and ESU programmers, there is no tab for function labels. However, using the Advanced programmer, with a Loksound Select EMD 657 decoder selected, there is the function label tab. 

I suspect when you detect the decoder and let it open up the programmer for you, it picks the ESU one. I'm just testing this on my main desktop which is not connected to any programming device, and at any point I do not have any of my ESU locos unpacked if I did. But manually selecting the Advanced programmer, I get the function label tab to set up the information for Engine Driver.
