A cautionary note. I got the original non-DCC version of this turntable when if first came out. I decided to use an old powerpack to power the TT. My instructions called for a 12V power source which is what this powerpack was listed as. Before long it went dead. I called Walthers and their tech support person told me that many DC power packs actually put out more voltage than listed. Some as much as 18V. They sent me a replacement for the bridge circuit board and recommended I get a Miniatronics 12V power supply which I did. It has served me well.

I don't know if the DCC version is as sensitive to the power supply as the original TT. Something to consider.

I prefer to keep the voltage in the middle of the spec range. AC output is a volt high and DC would be running at max output. Would it work....probably.  I prefer not to stress the electronics. Decades of experience and just my opinion.

I have an old Model Power power pack but on the output it shows 19V AC and 0-18VDC @ 5.5VA. The requirements for the turntable state 12-18 VAC or 16-24 VDC @250ma. Will this old power pack work to power the turntable?

That MP power pack will work with the turntable. The reason that the output specs on the power pack read 0-18 VDC is that you can dial the voltage between 0 and 18 VDC. Since the turntable requirement is 16-24 VDC, just turn the dial all the way up to 18 VDC on the power pack.

I have the 933-2850 model. This is an early version and had many indexing problems.  It has long been removed. I used a dual control Tyco power pack with a 15 vac output. The TT was the only thing connected. Voltage was monitored and remained solid. Power source was not the problem. Hope you have a better experience with this TT than I did.

Thank you sir for the information. I just purchased model 933-2618. So do you think that i can power my turntable with the power pack i have listed above?

BATMAN

I plug mine into my DCC system. For the little bit of time the TT runs I can spare the juice. The RH lights have their own power source.

Brent, can you explain how you plug yours into your DCC system please, i have the NCE Powercab system right now but am upgrading to the NCE SB5 booster soon so i can have multiple power panels around my layout without having to loose connection when moving from station to station around my layout....Thanks!

Quick Question Regarding Walthers 130' Turntable?
Posted by Trainzman2435 on Sunday, March 15, 2020 11:06 AM

Hello everyone, i just got my new Walthers 130' turntable. Reading the specifications regarding the power supply for the turntable i was wondering what you guys would recommend using for this? I have an old Model Power power pack but on the output it shows 19V AC and 0-18VDC @ 5.5VA. The requirements for the turntable state 12-18 VAC or 16-24 VDC @250ma. Will this old power pack work to power the turntable? If not what would you guys recommend? Thanks everyone!
