Hello everyone, does anyone on here have any experience with the Digitrax SDN144A1 Sound Decoder for Atlas N-Scale SD50/60? Is it a good sound decoder or are there better ones avaliable? Thanks!
It looks like a good decoder to start with. I'm not sure what's out there for N scale sound, as I model in HO.
I think ESU makes an N scale, not sure who else.
I can't find anything on the TCS web site for N sound.
I see the one your going to use has the SD50/60 sound preloaded, and it comes with a speaker, along with it being a simple board replacement.

You will probably be disapointed in the sound quality. It has a 4 bit sound processer in it. Digitrax makes a 16 bit decoder. It will have to be hard wired in. Joe

I have no clue as to what the board in the Atlas locos the OP is asking about looks like. Maybe that SDXN136PS will plug in?
16 bit is possitively better.
It's 8 bit, not 4 bit. 4 bit sound would be absolute gibberish. The X models with 16 bit sound are wortht he slight extra cost.
