Also, the suggestion to run this issue past the QSI forum members on groups.io is a good suggestion.

Do the engines work OK together in a 'regular' consist? Are you sure one engine isn't part of another consist? How about if you change the B unit to have the same address as the A unit, does it work OK then?
You can ask a lot of QSI questions at the following group forum.

to the forum, you post was stuck in moderation for the weekend. That will end after a few posts.
I can't help but this will bump your post so it appears with todays' posts and the QSI fans can comment. Don't know if it's relevant, but what DCC system do you use? We can never have too much information.

Hi,
I really hope that somebody out there can help me with a problem that I'm having with my Walthers Proto2000 E9 units, which date back to 2010 (they are the Q1A QSI decoders).
I have four of these models, 2 x E9A and 2 x E9B, and I will be using them in an A+B formation to haul my UP City of Los Angelese and City of San Fransisco Streamliner trains. To that end, I have managed to configure an A and B unit in an advance consist and they drive together just fine. However...
When I try to operate the sounds (besides from the engine noises), I get a very strange problem. The sounds, such as the horn and bell, do not latch "on"; they play continuously start and stop in short bursts. This problem only occurs when in an advance consist; when running individually, they are fine.
Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this? I do have a QSI programmer but the QSI website seems to be under construction and I can't find a site from which to download the latest sound files for these models (which I had hoped might fix the problem!). Can anybody suggest what I can do to fix this?
Thank you!
