I found a few photos online that show that there is a "little" bit of space in the area where the "custom NCE decoder" is installed. I imagine this could be replaced with a TCS keep alive decoder such as this one:

kind of .. i installed a supercap inside one of two jeeps with motors , to help them negotiate unpowered frogs ..

it did work [ i used a DC supply], but i removed it and sold them later on

I'm trying to find out if anyone has successfully installed some sort of 'keep alive' that would allow these VERY short wheelbase locos to negotiate insulafrog  turnouts in congested switching track zone??
