Thanks to eveyone for their input and suggestions!
I'm partial to ESU for their fine sounds and excellent drive. I would say avoid the Digitrax sound decoders unless price is you ONLY consideration.

Modeling the Reading Railroad in the 1950's
Visit my web site at www.readingeastpenn.com for construction updates, DCC Info, and more.
While the Genesis Mikados are nice-running locomotives, they're very poor pullers.
I can't help you regarding sound for your locomotive (DC operator here), but if you want to improve its pulling power, you may want to look HERE.

I just purchaed a Genesis Mikado that came with a digitrax 123 decoder.
It runs very well, but now I want to add sound to it.
I am not sure which decoder would be good for this model. TCS, Soundtraxx, Digitrax, ESU?
Any info and suggetions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
