So I recently purchased some old N scale items from a friend (im going to switch from HO Scale since I have limited space). He claims that the engine was almost new, and the cars were used but in good condition. I decided to test run the engine and cars on a loop of brand new Kato unitrack. The engine would receive power from the track, I know because the engine was humming and the headlights were on, but the model would not move. I am new to N scale, can I get some help?
Are you using DC or DCC? If DC, it's possible the engine has a DCC decoder that's been set to "DCC only" mode.
Does the humming get louder as you apply more power (indicating the motor is getting power but for some reason not turning)??
