Bought it new so that was how it ran when I received it. Did a reset and it runs better now and correctly. After reading the manual finding that F7 is for normal or switching mode helps as well.

Contacted Intermountain and the V4 loksound does not have the ability to set speed steps to notch positions.

The V4.0 decoder DO have the ability to set the speed step to notch position - but you need the Lokprogrammer to do any of those adjustments. The Loksound Select decoders (which come in most factory engines) do not have that ability.

You could try this:

Or possibly a reset?

Did the engine always react this way or is this a recent problem?

Loksound prime mover sound adjustment

I have an Intermountain n scale SD40-2 with Loksound decoder. Sounds great but is there a way to make the prime mover sound rev up slower? It hits full throttle at speed step 18 would be nice if it is around 28.
