I've always found the basic guide they include with the decoders to be pretty straightforward. Some stuff is left out - the comprehensive guide shows everythign you can do with their decoders. I use Digitrax, so CV19 tends to not come into play, so I never really paid attention to that part on momentum, but when I looked it up I see it says for the description of CV23: "Aceleration adjustment when in consist" - the addition of "adjustment" in there made me think this is not the actual momentum setting - and the bit below the table that says values less than 128 reduce the effect and values above 128 increase the effect just confirmed that indeed, CV23 adn 24 don;t set momentum in consists, they allow for a different amoutn of momentum when in consist.
Anyway that was my thought process - in fact I don't think any of the TCS decoders I have actually have CV23 and 24, they are all older ones, I haven't purchased a new decoder in over 6 years as I am between layouts and haven't done much of anything, most of my stuff is all packed away.

Thanks Randy! You saved me a lot of time trying to figure out the directions. It works great.
I wish the documentation was as clear as you made it!

CV23 and CV24 are just a consist ADJUSTMENT to the momentum in CV3 and CV4. You still need to set the base momentum using the standard CV3 and CV4 settings. Setting CV23 to less than 128 decreases the momentum when in CV19 consists, and setting CV23 to a number greater than 128 increases the acceleration momentum when in CV10 consists. CV24 does the same thing, but for the deceleration momentum.
CV23 and 24 are there so you can have a differnet momentum when in consists, for whatever reason (maybe to speed match, or something else operationally). Basic momentum is still controlled by CV3 and 4.
I have two Kato locomotives with TCS K1D4 decoders. They are running in advanced consist.
The documentation says to use CV 23 when CV 19 is not zero, to adjust momentum in consists. I've tried several times to adjust the acceleration but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
