You need to cover up that concrete with something easy on the feet and the item that fall to the floor.

There are two areas of the display that are now always blank.
A perhaps critical question: are the 'blank areas' certain discrete locations in the numerical display, or are they 'regions' that allow some part of some characters to continue to display?
This is likely an LCD display, which has multiple layers in what is basically a glass sandwich. Cracks in this (like a broken flatscreen or phone screen) are a different thing from pins or ribbon cables being knocked loose.
One of you with pictures of the circuitry around the display board might want to post details. I'm tempted to say that this looks an awful lot like the display in some of the temperature-controlled soldering stations, so one of those might be a guide for investigation... the actual two-row LCD display is probably either a generic part or could be replaced by a similar part from one of the usual-suspects electronics part houses.
(Now, if it were one of those gas-plasma displays, like the one in my Olivetti typewriter, the situation might be far, far more fun...)
A few years ago the back light on my Cab stopped working. Because I had registered my Power Cab it was repaired for free and yes I did put pockets at my layout and the club layout.

The SB5 just sits there. Impossible to break unless you keep moving it around. How can you possibly break it.

Do you also have an SB5? If you don't then you won't be able to operate your layout w/o your Power Cab.

I had a repair done and though they advertise up to 8 weeks, it wasn't nearly that long. Also, it's summer, not a time of year most of us spend time breaking things in the train room, so their work load may be lighter.
You could call first to see what they estimae for time. I found them very courtious.

Not a good day. Fortunately the Power Cab did not shatter or even have any visible breakage. Also the unit seems to be functioning as far as controlling the loco it is assigned to. However the display now has two areas that are always blank. I assume that my only two options are to put up with it or send it in to NCE for repair. I would not mind the repair trip so much if it wasn't for the fact that they advertise that it can take up to 8 weeks. I do have a cab06 that I can run trains with but I really don't care for it. Lesson Learned: I will now build some pockets for the controllers to ALWAYS be used when the unit is not in my hand.
