F8 key in the consist
Posted by escalibur2 on Sunday, June 16, 2019 11:55 AM

Hello,

I ask your help on the use of the F8 key in the consist with 2 locomotives managed by LokSound and Soundtraxx. With Loksound the F8 key must be activated to reproduce the sound - with Soundtraxx, instead, the F8 key must be activated in order not to reproduce the sound. Creating a consist, for example, with the main locomotive managed by Soundtraxx, the one fitted with Loksound will be muted and by activating F8 I will have the reverse result: Soundtraxx muto and LokSound active. Is there a configuration that solves this problem?

Thank you

There are a few options ....

You can set either to be like the other. Both have sound on upon receiving track power or both requiring it to be turned on.

Depending on how you have your consist made up, you can just dial up the address of the Loksound and turn on F8 independantly of the consist, then dial up the consist address and carry on.

You can also configure CVs 21 and 22 which determine which functions are active when in a consist - just disable F8 in the Soundtraxx decoder.

Numerous ways to go about it depending on how you want to handle it.

Mark.

I think that the F8 function is not controlled independantly when two locos are in a consist, so it shouldn't matter. In my experience I can call up the address of the loco that is not leading the consist and still control its sounds and light independant of the other loco.

To program the LokSound for sound on power up try  CV 32 = 2 then CV 403 =32, that should set it so sound come on like the Soundtraxx at power up, should be in the LokSound manual and on the LokSound site.
