gmpullman Seems to me that when F8 is pressed that silences the prime mover but the bell and horn are still operable on F1 and 2, just the way you'd like it. I believe this is the default setting for Loksound decoders. Good Luck, Ed

Ed, I tried it not only the Scaletrains engine, but an Atlas Gold and when I shut the sound off, the bell and horn did work.
Thank you and thanks to the others who replied!

nealknowsCan you adjust this sound decoder (or any sound decoder for that matter) so the only sound outputs you would hear would be a bell and horn?
It is possible. Adjust the master volume to a comfortable level then turn down all the individual sounds but horn & bell. It will sound strange though with all the extraneous sounds muted.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I think the LokSound is capable of being adapted like that. I see no reason why you couldn't just set the volume of everything but the bell and horn at zero. That would work pretty easily.
When Rapido made their Amtrak F40 cabbage they put a sound decoder in it, but since cabbages don't have prime movers it only had motor control (yes, rapido put a motor in their cabbage), horn and bell sounds, and light control. I think Rapido uses LokSounds (don't quote me on that).
So yes I think it is possible! I think messing around on JMRI may produce such a thing easily, good luck!

I model my railroad and you model yours! I model my way and you model yours!
As far as I know you can adjust the volume of any of the sounds on a loksound. So any could have a volume of 0. You can't do that on a Bachmann sound value.

Hello everyone,
I have an ESU lokSound decoder. The question my friends and I have is as follows..
Can you adjust this sound decoder (or any sound decoder for that matter) so the only sound outputs you would hear would be a bell and horn? This request may sound odd to some, but to my group, it's an interesting request.
Thanks to all who reply.
