I'd say the same for Roco (and the z21 system). I believe it would become popular enough to displace "the big names" from the top o' the heap in the American market... IF Roco chose to market it more agressively.

In order to get ahold of the "z21 Start" unit, I had to order from a German train site...

BigDaddy

Streamlined Backshop has lenz decoders but not controllers.  13 of them

I think we can safely conclude that the market demand for Lenz in the US is pretty small

Maybe if Lenz would market their product in North America better, the demand would be greater.

Edit: I've had my Lenz system since Jan. 15, 2001.

Seems liek they mostly had stuff that has seen recent updates.

As for "starter system" - marketign wank. Digitrax has called even thrir top of the lien system a "starter set" because it includes everythign you need. NCE PH Pro is not a 'starter set" from the concept of it being an introductory system of lesser power. So it depends on how you define "starter set". Lenz sets are as much starter sets as a Digitrax Evo system or a PH Pro. Or the new ESU system.

I think Lenz USA is now under the umbrella of Tony's.

Is Lenz out of the picture for US consumers?

Just U.S. consumers or all consumers? Hard to keep up with all the trade and tariff issues going on in the U.S.

The website http://www.lenzusa.com/ doesn't work in 2 browsers.  I see nothing from them on MTS, Trainworld or Tony's Trains

Litchfield Station does carry their products.

The article concentrated on starter systems.  I was also surprised to see no review of Lenz, but they have never offered a starter system.

Is Lenz out of the picture for US consumers?  There was no mention of it in the listing of and info about the various systems available.  At one time most of the DCC layouts in Milwaukee used Lenz, perhaps because one of the first guys in town who did decoder and system installations for others was a big believer in Lenz), and Lenz was one of the first and for a time only DCC firms to have a booth at Trainfest (they were soon joined by others, and no longer have a booth there).
