Newbie JMRI Questions
Posted by DRGWGJCO on Thursday, May 30, 2019 8:18 PM

I just got a Digitrax PR4 and got it up and running with JRMI. I do have a couple questions.

1--When I created the entry for my locomotives in decoder pro it all went well and read all the pages. But on the main page where the roster is I can see the column headings but the actuals lines where the entries are is about 1/4 character high. I can see that there is somwthing there but it isn't legible. I tried to drag down the bottom of the little window to make it taller but didn't get the option. I can make the window wider but thats not the problem.

2--On one of my locomotives when I look at the basic speed table info there is a min value and mid value but the max value is 0. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help.

Default for many decoders for CV2 (min) CV5 (max) and CV6 (mid) are all 0. But not always. If that's what wa read from your decoder though, and the read was good, then it's probably right. Have to check the manufacturer's decoder manual to find the defaults if you want to verify.

As for the display - do you have your screen scaled, ie not set to 100%? Some applications can;t handle that very well. Or maybe you need to update your video driver.

Will check what I have it set as.

As for the values yeah the read was good so that must be right. As for the Min and Mid values I may have previously made changes to them and thats why they aren't zero as well. The decoder is an old DH121 I used years ago. Will check the manual.

Thanks Randy

Ask your JMRI question on the JMRI User's list: https://groups.io/g/jmriusers

I've seen this issue raised there before, although I don't really recall the solution. It didn't affect me so I pretty much skipped over it, but it might have been an issue with high DPI displays and the level of Java?

Anyway, the folks who actually write the code hang out there and can give you a definitive solution.
