Needing CV list for Athearn Loco
Posted by dbduck on Monday, April 8, 2019 1:40 PM

I have an Athearn locomotive  i purchased a number of years ago  and have misplaced the brochure that came with it  listing all the CVs

The locomotive is stock number G67177 it is a Genesis SD45-2 probably manufacturd around 2009-2010 Guessing by the "printed date" on the exploded parts list that came with it

was wondering if anyone would have a copy of the information I seek...be able to make a copy & e-mail to me.  My basic need is the factory reset CV at the least

The loco currently has momentum set on it (which I dont care for) as well as some of the sounds don't function

Setting CV08 to 008 will reset the decoder.  Depending on which DCC system you are using, after the reset, you'll need to rock the locomotive, bringing the wheels of one side off the track, and then the other side, to interupt the power to the loco to have the reset take effect.

Digitrax operating systems shut down track power automatically, after reset, you have to turn track power back on.

I'm not sure what decoders Athearn used in their Genesis.

If you use a program such as JMRI, you should be able to "read" what the decoder is.

I'm not sure if other operating systems will "read" a decoder, I use Digitrax, and the older version of the SEB with the DB150, and the DT400 throttle does not.

I can change anything I need to, but I can't read it.

Others will chime in, hopefully this gets you started with a reset, anyway.

That would be a blue/gray CSX unit like this one?:

Scroll to the very bottom of that link and you'll see "sound instructions".  Click there and you should get a CV list.

Are you sure that's the link?  Or is there something that ties the Yahoo Entertainment Alien 40th aniversary, with this loco.  Laugh

Looks like it is a Soundtraxx Tsunami sound decoder. BTW CV3 and 4 control starting and stopping momentum respectively, that's universal to all decoders I believe.
