That list is of the ID codes found in CV8 of a DCC decoder.

Since neither Athearn nor Horizon Hobbies manufactures their own DCC decoders, they don't have their own manufacturer codes.

Athearn has used several different manufacturers' decoders over the years, so the manufacturer code or ID reported by CV8 in the decoder in an Athearn locomotive will vary depending on whose decoder Athearn was using at the time the locomotive was manufactured.

In the past, Athearn has used decoders from MRC (ID 143) and from Soundtraxx (ID 141). I don't remember any other manufacturers whose decoders they've used.

Thanks for the good answer. I appreciate it. In this case it is a TCS decoder and Code 153 for that Mfg. CV8- of course, I know that, but dumb me. Thanks again.

I just looked at the NMRA site.  I see Athearn or Horizon aren't listed in the manufacturers links, either.

Trying to understand what it's for?  This seem to be associated with DCC equipment.

What would the codes be used for?  Or is it just a way for the NMRA to catalog manufacturers, and to say "they are on our manufactureres code list", as if it's some type of sanction?

Just wondering, I'm not a member.

Mike.

EDIT:  OK, fmilhaupt posted while I typed, I get it now.  Never mind.

The Mfg ID is used in JMRI Decoder Pro when creating a roster of individual engines. It is not really used for anything I can determine except it may be useful when compiling data. OR- I can't stand empty fields on spreadsheets. Check out the JMRI software.

Manufacturer's IDs
Posted by rettop on Sunday, April 7, 2019 2:48 PM

I'm looking for Athearn's Manufacturing ID Codes as assigned by the NMRA. I dowloaded the file and searched it and the internet for a code but no joy. I also searched for Horizon Hobby but couldn't find it either.

Can anyone please help.
