Trading in my old Digitrax for a new Zephyr Express

Out with the old DCS 51 and buying a new Zephyr Express when I work at the hobby shop today. Five new Express units arrived from our supplier last week!

Zephyr Express controlling a DCC Illinois Central unit salt load, DCC Via Rail in Home Hardware wrap hauling lumber goods, DC Canadian National hauling mixed freight, and a Canadian National 44 toner operating at the Cheverie Mining Company’s native copper Shaft #1 spur.

Although I lean towards Loksound, I like the display square as well as the actual "throttle knob/lever rather than a scroll wheel.

How do you like your unit so far?

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

You do realize you can set the old one as a booster only and still use the throttle functionality of it, so now you have 2 throttles, right?

I like the bigger screen, and the speed percentage being displayed helps to keep trains that are on the same track separated. Seeing all trains in a list format is so much better than toggling between the last two entered on the old machine.

Yes up to two more throttles. For now though, I was happy with a big savings on the new one.
