I have emailed customer service about replacing the device. Unfortunately, their warranty policy requires a $14 check or money order so they can ship the repaired / replaced item back. Paid $12.50 for them to ship it to me. Will cost me $8 to send it back. Total shhipping costs are almost as much as the item is worth. I've asked if they will at least waive the $14 charge, given the module was, for practical purposes, dead on arrival. Haven't heard back yet. If the answer is no, I'll cut my losses and just return it for a full refund.
MRC doesn't believe in online manuals. The SS2 hooks up to track power. I can't conceive that there are any moving parts inside the SS2. If the loco runs fine in reverse without the SS2, then it's not the loco or NCE.
A google search doesn't mention a similar problem. Maybe MRC will stand behind their product and exchange it?

Very strange. At the least, the SYncro SOund 2 shoudl just ignore direction change packets on DCC, there's no point to it, a loco tends to make the same sounds backing up as it does going forward. This almost certainly has to be an MRC problem, NCE products don't do anythng beyond standard NMRA DCC when it comes to what signals get put on the rails.

Anyone tried using the MRC Synchro Sound2 with an NCE PowerCab? Got one for Christmas and it works fine so long as my locomotive is stopped or moving forward. But put it in reverse and the NCE PowerCab resets as it does when a short circuit is detected. After two back-to-back reset cycles the system is active again and the PowerCab controller is back in 'forward'. Press the 'reverse' button and the reset cycle begins again.
Tried it with different locomotives, with no locomotives, on the main, on the programming track and every combination of all the above.
Been working with MRC and NCE support, but have had zero luck. Both organizations have run out of suggestions for resolving the isssue. Anyone here have a positive experience with the Syncho Sound2 with the PowerCab DCC system?
