I have a hexjuicer kicking around that I haven't found a convenient home for yet. Im assuming I could gang two of the outputs as a reverer for the doubleslip frogs, then have 4 individual frogs left for nearby turnouts (but not within the adjacent reversing section)?
Sorry, I should have mentioned that my reversing section wouldn't begin until midway down the left and right legs of the wye, or even at the frog end of the wye turnout itself. So the doubleslip would be isolated with just the expected insulating joiners on the 4 frog rails, but otherwise can be thought of as just part of a normal linear track/wiring scheme, totally independant of the reversing section wiring.
I have a couple Caboose throws, but not that model. I might give that a try. Space is a little tight... this track revision was an afterthought, and there isn't a whole lot of room for adding onto the benchwork at the location I will need to put the doubleslip.
Cymrych79Can I get away with just powering the frogs with an autoreverser
Hi,
I think I understand what you are trying to do.
You wouldn't be able to use the same autoreverser you are using for one leg of the wye. I am assuming you are using DCC? A regular autoreverser wouldn't work since each frog has to work in conjunction with the switch point alignment and the usual autoreversers switch both outputs together.
You could use a Tam Valley dual frog juicer for the two frogs on the double slip.
OR you could wire each frog to one of these 220-S manual throws with contacts:

They are a little fussy to set up but once you have them working they are very reliable.
Hope that helps, Ed
Making some minor modifications to my trackplan to incorporate a revering wye. To access one leg of the wye, my branch mainline will use a turnout followed immediately by a doubleslip over a siding, the crossing route of which then becomes the right side of the reversing wye. I thought about just using a crossing, but a slip allows me to use the top side of the reversing wye as a runaround track for the branch mainline. Double slip allows me to access the siding from either the top side runaround track, or the right leg of the wye.
Anyhow, this doubleslip is in a relatively low traffic yard area, and I was planning on keeping the throwbars manual. Can I get away with just powering the frogs with an autoreverser, same as if it was a simple crossing? That's the impression I get researching at the usual places (dccwiki, wiringfordcc, etc.), but it seems almost too straightforward for a such a complex appearing piece of trackage.
