Bachmann sound decoders
Posted by richg1998 on Sunday, August 19, 2018 6:14 PM

I was looking at the 2018 HO catalog and I see Bachmann will be supplying TCS WOW decoders in some of their locos if anyone is interested. Check the HO forum.

How 'bout that!  Seems everyone is ditching Soundtraxx for Loksound and now TCS.  I wonder if the Wow decoder will be a lower-end version like the Tsunami that Bachmann used?

Not lower-end version

Per TCS,

"WOWSound DCC sound decoder with Audio Assist and a Keep-Alive™ capacitor … This model [Bachmann HO Spectrum streamlined K4 4-6-2] comes packed with our entire library authentic steam sounds including the whistles and bells from real K4 steam locomotives."

I see they will still keep some with SoundTraxx decoders but time will tell.

I heard that decoder in a video review of their new ACS-64 amtrak loco. I think bachmann did themselves a real favor. It sounds pretty good!

I'm beginning to realize that Windows 10 and sound decoders have a lot in common. There are so many things you have to change in order to get them to work the way you want.

I bought the new ACS-64 Electric loco with the TCS WOW sound and keep alive decoder and it is awesome for the money! There are a couple ways you can run it. One of them is with sound and lights or more of the sound feature. I've run it with the ditch lights and more. For the money (not the MSRP-I got it online for close to half the retail) it's worth every penny.

Kudos to Bachmann on this engine!
