Similar words are used to describe two different things in MR

  1. a "module" that will run a train back and forth on a single piece of track, automatically detecting and changing the direction of the loco.
  2. an electrical circuit that changes the polarity of the track when a train, while going forward is traveling over the same piece of track going left to right and right to left.

There is a DCC module that does Number 1 for DCC:  http://www.tamvalleydepot.com/products/trainshuttle.html

The older DC units are specific for DC

Automatic reversing loop modules

I have a simple question.  Are automatic reversing loop modules used on DC from the 1990's the same as for newer DCC only layouts?  In other words, are there DC and DCC modules which are different?

Thanks, Paul
