If you connect both systems to the track, make sure you have BOTH rails gapped between the section powered by the Zephyr and the section powered by the DB150.

And make sure that in addition to the jumper between config A and ground on the DB150, you also run a fairly heavy wire (ideally same size as the track bus) between the DB150 ground terminal and the Zephyr ground terminal. ANd of course a Loconet cable between them.

Do you really need to run more than 10 at a time? I use my Zephyr as the command station and have my DB150 set up as booster only - use the jumper wire between Config A and Ground for that. My layout filled up a bedroom and 10 traisn was no limit (actually it can do 12). Remember, it's the number of trains at the same time. You can have 500 locos with decoders, Zephyr command station just means you can only RUN 10 at a time.

I kept the Zephyr as command station because 10 was not a limitation, and the Zephyr is a more capable command station, with a dedicated program track and CV reading. The DB150 has no dedicated program track, and it can't read CVs. If you use the DB150 as command statioon and confugre the Zephyr as a boooster only, you can still use the Zephyr throttle as a cab, but you can't use the program track.

DCC & DB150 Command Station/Booster
Posted by nickyb on Sunday, May 27, 2018 3:51 PM

I purchased the DB 150 only to use as a booster, I already have a DCS 50 Zephyr. I am getting confused as hpow to set up the db150 in conjunction with my Zephyr. I changed the swithes for the db150 to be just a booster. Well, what happens this way i am only allowed to run 10 trains at one time. But, If I set the switch for the DB150 to be a Command station and a booster it gets confused with the Zephyr. Has anyone out there know how I should setup the DB150 ?.
