ConCor Blue Goose Pass car lighting kits

I have 8 of the Blue Goose pass cars and was wanting to know what  lighting kits to use since my layout is DCC. NCE 5 amp. I remember how to install kits but my brain can't remember which kits to use.

I have some of the Con-Cor PRR MP54s but not any of the Blue Goose cars.

Are your cars N scale or HO ?

I contacted Con-Cor and they were no help. "Sorry we do not offer interiors, or loose lighting kits."

My cars are H.O. scale and I was wanting to pamper them as it is my favorite train.

I am wanting to use track powered lighting kits and I am running DCC. I am not afraid to modify but just want to get something that I can use when it is modifyed so Im not throwing my $ away. Any ideas?

I just Googled: HO scale passenger car lighting kits  

Many places to get them, such as Walthers, Kato, Rapido, Model Train Stuff, and the list goes on.

There are many out there to choose from.  I'd start with the four that I just mentioned, and go from there.

There are also guys on here that have made their own from strip leds, and the right gear to power them, from the car wheels.

I do my own passenger car lighting.  I can customize the lighting for each particular car.  I went with wide angle warm white LEDs in all of my passenger cars.  By using individual LEDs I can set the light level for each area in the car.  Dimmer for some areas and well lit for other areas.

 

I seldom make every car the same, depending of the type of car and LED spacing to get the most realistic lighting.

 

I standardized on Athearn streamline cars mainly because the longer 85’ cars don’t look good on a smaller layout.  I like to run eleven 72’ cars with two E7s totaling 120”.

 

Here are a few pictures of my car lighting.

 

 

The ceiling is .02” Styrene sheet with 3/16” holes for the LEDs and individual resistors to select the wanted amount of light.

 

 

For my SP ¾ Dome/Lounge car (below) I made a Styrene channel to hold the LEDs.  The three LEDS from left to right are running more current for brighter lighting in the lounge area and the six to the right are very dim light over the dome area. 

 

 

The wide angle LEDs are prefect for lighting passenger cars.

 

 

This shows the lighting level between the lounge and dome areas.  This is an unfinished picture before final painting.
