A quick follow-up / clarification...the SDH-166D is an 8-bit decoder, so will only work with 8-bit sound projects. You can't use 16-bit projects designed for the newer Digitrax 16-bit sound decoders. But there are a lot of 8-bit projects available.
Yes, go to the Digitrax site, you can find out all you need.

The bar at the top of the page, go to Sound Depot.
I'm about ready to try this too. I found the same decoder on sale, from the LHS.

Yes, that is correct. The decoder comes with a steam and a diesel project (I think the GP-38) already loaded, but you can download any of the sound projects on the Digitrax website and program it into your decoder. You can also mix things up a little - like take say the horn from one project and use it in another project...or you can just add your own .wav files you find on the internet.
I want to make sure I understand this. I just got a Digitrax SDH166D plug in sound decoder. I understand I can download the sounds from Digitrax to fit my locomotive using my PR3 with the SoundLoader program. Is this correct?
