I just tried it again. It doesn't matter where I put the signal track: 1.) Going clockwise, with the signal track to the left of the power track, 2.) Still going clockwise, with the signal track to the right of the power track, 3.) Reversing the power track, with the train going counterclockwise, and having the signal track to the left of the power track, 4.) Still going counterclockwise, with the signal track to the right of the power track. The signal will only work correctly when the train is going in reverse. So, I am certain that the signal is defective. Does Kato replace defective products? Thanks!

The Kato site seems to be down.

I found a Kato USA youtube video of the HO signal and it functions exactly like yours.  4 min into the video, note that the signal functions properly when it is on the left side of the track and the loco is moving toward the signal.

Thank you for the reply. Where should I place the signal track? Thanks again!

Looking at the video the signal is detecting train in block before the signal and not after. Your signal should be green until train passes the signal then turn red. It appears you have it hooked to wrong block

N Scale Signal Problem
Posted by jmilleratp on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 7:12 PM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SWQEboEclE - Video demonstrating my problem.

I need help with my Kato N Scale Signal. It isn't working properly. Going in reverse, it works like it should, going from red to yellow to green. But, when going forward, the signal stays red and doesn't change. Can you please help me with suggestions about what might be going wrong? I did reverse the power track and had the train going counter clockwise. But, that made no difference. Thank you, in advance, for your help!
