End of bus wire
Posted by Alexander on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 10:30 AM

hey everyone,

I plan to use a bus wire for my dcc system and am wondering what you do at the end of a bus wire. Like in a sidling that ends or a loop. Thanks.

This issue has been debated many times before on this forum and other forums, and while there is a difference of opinion, the majority opinion is to leave the ends of the bus wires unconnected and not form a loop.

Just cover the ends, maybe with tape, and of course keep them apart...not touching. Tack them up with a wire retainer, and then start adding feeders.

For typical runs of bus on our layouts, you won't need anything more elaborate.  Looping each bus wire back to its issuing terminal has been endlessly debated.  I don't, and see no reason to alter my practice.

I just hook my last set of feeders to the end of the bus. Why would you make the bus go farther than the last feeders?
