Any ideas why/ how the NCE power cab LED won't turn on? I am using the flat 7' cord and have it plugged into the left side of the panel. The LED on the cab blinks on and off before it stops so I can change settings, etc. Locos won't respond because they aren't getting information.
This is quite annoying. I tried looking online and watching videos, but was supposed to take 10 min, is over an hour of frustration.
Thanks for your help.
The LED indicates power is going to the tracks.
Been a few years since I used mine but the only time it went out is whith a short but the Cab shut down also.
Does the LED stay on with no loco on the track?
Does this happen with another loco?
Not sure what you mean in the below?

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
The LED doesn't stay on even with no locos on the tracks. The display on the power cab flicks on and off. That flickering stops once I press the 'select loco' button.
Any ideas on what to do? Do I have a short or is the system faulty?
The output connector on my Power Cab shows two terminals with tiny screws to secure the buss wire. With the LED on, I measure 13.6 vac on those two terminals.

Ifr you had a short, the Cab should stay off. At least with mine, it did.
I just powered up my Cab and the LED stayed on, even when I select a loco.
You might have a bum system though I have not heard of an issue like this with the Power Cab.
Does the Cab display go out also when the LED goes out? I traced the circuit on my panel. A 1k resistor and LED are across the two DCC output leads.
Should not make any difference. I have the latest eprom upgrade.
I registered my Cab some years ago. When the background lighting failed about a year later, NCE repaired it for free.

after a few seconds, it wil reapply power and cycle.
if it's a short, unplug the track connection and see what happens.

Call or email NCE, I did and was very pleased with the service.
Good luck,
