More than enough. Most modern HO locos would be pushing it getting to a full 1 amp if you restrained the wheels from turning. Under normal size loads (a decent train but not so many cars that the loco just sits and spins its wheels), 1/2 amp per sound loco is still being generous.
I have the original Digitrax Zephyr. It's rated at 2.5 amps output. I once ran 12 locos at the same time (the maximum it can handle) just to see that it could be done. SOme had sound and some just had motor decoders. It was 5 minutes of Lucy in the candy factory frantic arm waving trying to keep them all from running in to one another but it DID run them all. Thus I never bothered to upgrade to anything with more power until more recently - the Zephyr could handle more locos than I could actually fit on my layout at one time.

What does the average DCC sound engine draw amp wise. My NCE power cab has 2 amps' Is this enough for the large engines to work well. Thanks
