Got it fixed. The Atlas web site has a list of DCC equiped locos with the decoder info for them. Set it back to factory settings and all is well. Thanks to all who responded.
RayG8 No. It moces at a very slow speed it either direction.

Some time ago I went to visit a fellow modeler and I ran some of his locos. He ran his locos on 128 speed steps and I am used to 28 speed steps on my own layout. I found his locos so sloooooow to "accelerate".
Speed steps are set on the throttle, not on the loco decoder. So maybe what I wrote won't help. But there are so many questions that are not answered: Do you have other locos that run OK on this throttle? Is it your first loco? Is it new or second hand? Do you usually program your decoders for 28/128 speed steps or on 14 speed steps? What is your meaning of "accelerate"? Etc.
If you give more details, there is certainly a forum member that could help. There is a bunch of DCC expert here.

Has this engine ever worked properly? Where did you get it? Have you given the motor and gear train a cleaning and lubrication? Does it sound like the motor is spinning rapidly but the engine barely moves?
At this point, do a factory reset.

RayG8 HO. Pary of the problem is that I don't know what kind of decoder no information came with the engine. A source for what manufacturer used what decoder(s) and when would be helpful.

sounds like it could be a speed table things, as to decoder i am sure someone could identify it from a photo.
It responds to speed commands and the headlights work properly.
RayG8 I have an Atlas MP15 that wont accelerate.....
I have an Atlas MP15 that wont accelerate.....
Do you mean that it won't respond to commands to move or that CV3 values have no effect?
If it has one of the later QSI Quantam decoders it may have the regulated throttle enabled. Try setting it to regular throttle by setting CV 49 to 4 and CV 56 to 0.

Will it accelerate in reverse?
If you have performed a reset and can't get it to move on Add "03", then the decoder is toast.
What decod....er....never mind......
Eventually someone will ask you what decoder is in that particular engine, and if the engine is HO or N.
I have an Atlas MP15 that wont accelerate, all other functions appear to be any idearfunctioning normally and no other locos have this issue.I am using an MRC Prodigy Advance2 system.
Any ideas on the cause will be greatly appreciated.
