Digital SDH166 in an athearn genesis 4-6-2

Hi all; I just bought the above locomotive, still new in the box, I have a SDH166 decoder that I bought. My question is, do I just plug the engine harness into the decoder and it works? If so, what are all the loose wires on the other end of the decoder? i have never installed a decoder before and I quests I'm not understanding the directions, which start telling you to solder wires. I thought this was a plug & play deal! Help!

The "loose wires on the end" ( wire harness) unplug, as one unit from the decoder.  After you have unplugged the wires, the engine harness will plug into the decoder.  You'll also have to unplug the jumper board (lets the loco run on DC ) from the locos harness, then plug in the decoder in it's place.

Also, go to Digitrax's web site, and you can see the instructions for the DH166.
