This chassis is from an Aethern P42. Can't get it to run. Checked connections with a multimeter. There is power to the track. Is the motor grounded to the frame? I noticed only 1 wire to the motor. Is there another test I can perform? And if it is dead what motor can I use to replace it? Thanks
DCC newbie here but that 8 pin plug means it's DCC ready at a the least. That board pointing straight up might be a dummy DCC plug, but at any rate the motor is not grounded. There should be another wire going to the circuit board from the opposite side of the motor.
There is a view of this loco on the TCS site, you can't see the engine wires plug into the board, but I believe the should be next to one another. http://www.tcsdcc.com/Customer_Content/Installation_Pictures/HO_Scale/Athearn/P42/P42.html

Thanks! Just have to figure out where on the board the ground wire goes!
Edit: That was it! Just plugged in the decoder and soldered the speaker and all is well! Much appreciated!
