Don't know about the old ones, but the current production ones all have insulated frogs and insulated throwbars and, apart from possible dead area for small locos, should be just fine with DCC as-is. They were made by Roco and sold by Model Power back in the day.

Edit: after this post, your post with the pictures appeared. At least from the wiring diagram it looks exactly like the current production Roco version.

Got to be at lest 20 years. And you're right it's not Atlas it is a Model Power 3-Way Remote.  I found the wiring instructions, it says teh frog is not "polarized".

I have a W/S Code 83 3-way, also, and agree with Rich regarding shorts with some of my locos. I installed a Frog Juicer: one connection to the Juicer is connected to the 2 smaller frogs and that solved the problem. Those 2 can always be the same polarity.

If it is a Walthers Shinohara Code 83 3-way turnout, it is DCC Friendly and no modifications are required. I have several on my layout.  Shorts can occur, however, where rails of opposite polarity converge at the frog.

Atlas??  How old is it?  I don't see it in the Atlas line.  If it's another manufacturer, the answer may vary.

Edit, here is what I was looking for, 2/3 down the page, it's a DCC unfriendly Shinohara 3 way modification.  http://www.webring.org/l/rd?ring=modelrailroading;id=13;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ewiringfordcc%2Ecom%2Fswitches_walthers_old%2Ehtm
