LokSound Programmer help
Posted by BigDaddy on Thursday, September 1, 2016 2:15 PM

I am thoroughly lost.  I have a new programmer I downloaded the latest software 4.4.25

I have a Select Direct decoder.  The programer reads it as a Select Direct/micro decoder and I updated the firmware successfully.

When in doubt, read the manual.  Nope "Change to the "Sound' Register and select "Schedule"  I have no idea what that means nor can I find it in the program.

I did download V4.0 US sound files.  File 74461 a 16 cyl 244 motor.  When I click on the file it opens in the programer, but it changes the decoder visible in the toolbar to a LokSound 4.0.  Under the drop down menu there is no Direct Select option and I get and error message when I write the project to the decoder (not a V4.0)

Back to the manual, they suggest downloading the motor file 72400  This is a V3.5 file, but the Direct Select does not appear in that drop down menu either.  So it cannot be loaded to the decoder.

I just noticed the programmer software version was released today.  Is this a bug or am missing something obvious.  I am a waiting confimation before I can see any posts on the ESU forum.

The engine is an old Atlas RS-3, I also tiried to unistall the latest version and load V 2.7 or the programmer and that didn't work either.

I also downloaded the template pack 1.8_01  These files have a .esut extension and when I click on one of those, it says they can only be used with the Sound Library?

Yes, but that is for a version 4.  I'm not sure that it will work with the Select.  I did not see a 16 cylinder 244 motor in the Select files.

Plan B  There are a couple 244 12 cyl under Select Factory.  I did not think to look there.  One is uploading now.

Seems to me that the whole ESU website is not "all there" today.

I'm pretty sure you want the 73701 soundfile and I know I downloaded it a few weeks ago and I can not find it today.

Even on the Loksound Select page the "Available Sounds" tab is inactive?

http://www.esu.eu/en/products/loksound/loksound-select/

When I go to the download page it only lists ESU Classic, V2, V3 & V.4.0 files.

Maybe they are updating or modifying the sound file list and the site will be available shortly.

Of course, a V4 sound file will not work in a Select.

Good Luck, Ed

EDIT 1: Apologies for the repetitive comments.  I had a phone call just before hitting "post".

EDIT 2: On the Yahoo user group site there is a 11Am today notice that the site is undergoing a few days of maintenance.  Includes the sound download sections, part of that being that some older files are showing and some newer ones not available.

I updated my LP software last week to version 4.4.24 but have not tired 4.4.25 yet.  I note that 4.4.24 is no longer downloadable so perhaps issues with one or another versions.

Are you loading a Select file or a V4 file?  I believe the Select cannot take the V4 files.

I can't see file 74461 on the ESU site currently.  I can look at the Select "Full LokSound Select Sound Files" table when I click that and don't see it there (all are 73xxx files there).  I currently can't click on the Select "Available Sounds" list (where one can see lists of files with loco photos, info on the file etc.  That "link" is not currently showing clickable on my browser.

I usually use the Yahoo LokSound forum (you need to sign up) for LokSound particular questions.  I'd suggest that or simply call ESU USA in PA.

Let us know the outcome when you get this unravelled.

I think all the 73000 numbers are for the decoder board in various configurations (Aux 6, Direct and Micro) with the sound installed.

Are you loading a Select file or a V4 file?  I believe the Select cannot take the V4 files.

That seems to be true.  74461 was a V4 I found by searching Alco 244.  On a retail site I found a link to the Select sound files that no longer works.

EDIT  new info

I don't need one more forum to visit but here is the very first post I saw.

ESU Will be doing some Website updating over the next few days. Please have some patience with us as we try to improve your experience.

One area of updates will be the Sound Download Sections. You may see there are some of the older files that are popping up and a few of the new ones missing here and there. The script to upload this info is automated and we are seeing a few problems. We are working on it, and will have everything BETTER than normal soon!

Thank you for understanding!
