LED Connection Question?
Posted by hwolf on Saturday, May 28, 2016 10:01 AM

I just bought Radio Shack Subminature LED Assemblies # 276-0069 for my panal.  It has been a while since I have installed LED on the panel and I have never used this type.

They are listed as 2.1V  20mA

Do I need to install a resistor and am I connecting to my 12V DC Reg Power Supply?

If i need a resistor,  which lead would it be connected to?

Thanks in advance

Harold

A 1k, 1/4 watt resistor is normal for most. Allows about 9 ma current. I use either lead. Does not matter. Some like a standard method. Keep evrything the same. Look below.

If you are not sure which lead is which you can test with 9v battery, being sure to use resistor to avoid burning out led.

A  little help. If you search the item in question, very rarely will you you not find an answer. You can develop quite a library of links. I use Google, a lot.
