PennsyT1 But unless I`m missing something, I don`t see any instruction for setting the CV that controls the sound of the coupler opening and air hose parting with the locomotive in motion. I`l research it further.

CV49 is the sound identifier. The coupler effect is 11, so CV49=11. Then, set the sound volume for the coupler effect in CV52 which can range from 1 to 15, with 11 being the factory default.
So, you set the two CVs in order, first CV49, then CV52.
Say, for example, that you want maximum coupler effect volume. In order,
CV49=11
CV52=15
If you want to set the coupler effect volume to factory default, then in order,
CV52=11
The lower the value of CV52, the lower the volume of the sound.

Thank you for the reply. I have a Digitrax system and the accompanying paperwork. But unless I`m missing something, I don`t see any instruction for setting the CV that controls the sound of the coupler opening and air hose parting with the locomotive in motion. I`l research it further.
I'm guessing it's a volume issue, unless you were more or less randomly setting CVs. It's very unlikely you would accidently remap the function, Accidently reduce the volume to 0 - that's possible.

What DCC system do you have? My NCE can reset individual CV's. Do you still have the system and/or decoder paperwork? If not some things are available on line at the manufacturers site, might give you an idea how to do it.
Good luck,
Richard
Just a thought, but you could check the volume CV for that sound, to be sure it didn't somehow get set down to zero.
I have a PRR T1 Duplex from BLI that has the early Quamtam Sound System. I recently lost the sound of the coupler opening and air hose pulling apart. I would like to try and reset the F3 function without changing the entire locomotive program back to factory default. Is there a way that this can be done? I did reprogram CV 37 to 16 which is what the Quantam DCC Manual requires.
