Woodland Scenics Just Plug Lighting System connectors
Posted by BumpyJack68 on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 7:03 PM

Hi all. I could not find this in search and I hope I'm in the correct forum? I have been researching this system and it seams like it would work well. Somewhat pricy tho. The LEDs could be had cheaper perhaps (I have very limited knowledge of these things yet) And the wires could be made if the connectors they use are a standard unit? I am thinking of using their Hub/s and expansion hub/s and buying wires and LEDs and such at a less expensive supplier. Anyone have experience wth this system that would offer some pointers? Thanks.

I have used the system in 14 buildings and really like it. The plug and play of it makes it easy for me. I have Parkinson's so it is perfect for me.

What kind of plug do they use?  From their site pictures they look like a JST connector.  If they are JST what is the contact spacing?  The typical HO scale connectors are 1.5mm or ZH series JST connectors.

They do look like JST connectors, sorry for not being more specific.

I have used this system to light my buildings, works great. Not that expensive in my opinion but I would rather spend my time soldering decoders and lights in my rolling stock than bothering with a home grown lighting system.

I have a couple of Woodland buildings bought a year ago.  I just ried to hook up the buildings.  One has flickering lights.  One won't light at all.  Are there quality control issues with the lighting system?

I'm a bit disappointed in the Just Plug system.  The main issue I am having is with adjusting the dimmers.  The LED tends to flicker and some times goes out during adjustment.  It not like a smooth light tranisition like the videos I saw.

Has any one else had this issue?

I set the brightness once and haven't adjusted them since, I didn't notice any flicker, and did not have any issues with the lights going out. Recheck your connections to the box to that particular light.

Hi Geared Steam,

I check the connection and it did not help.  I also noticed the small dimmer knobs are quite stiff and require a screw driver to adjust.

Is that normal?

Thanks,

Jim
