I hard wired a Tcs Wow diesel decoder into a Genesis f7 yesterday and ran into an odd issue. When I wired the motor I wired the wires backward but did not worry about is as I knew I could just program it to run the right direction. Only problem is the front headlight did not get the message. I tried to reprogram twice. Reset the decoder once. But each time the motor got the message but the headlight would not change. It would only come on when the loco went in reverse. This behavior was the same on another wow decoder new out of the package.
Once I swapped the motor leads all worked normally. Am I missing something about programming?
Anyway love the audio assist and the wow decoder. The early 567 sound is fantastic. Although it's missing the early Wabco single chime. It does have the galloping goose Wabco but it does not sound very good for a early F unit.
Comments?

The "direction" CV only controls the motor direction, not the headlights. There are separate CVs which allow you to re-program those.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
A good suggestion is to read through the decoder manual carefully.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
I forgot to mention I did reprogram the front headlight to come on in the opposite direction. But it did not work. Maybe I missed a step with the audio set up. Not a big deal as once I swapped the wires it worked normally. This is the 76th decoder I have installed I just have not seen this before. I do plan to call them this afternoon about another issue I'll see if I can figure out the step I missed.
Thanks
I try to always swap the motor leads to fix this problem, only because if I correct it via CV29 then I have a non-standard configuration adn some time in the future I'll have to reset the loco and then wonder why in the heck it runs backwards.
Dunno about the audio assist for changing the function mappings, but the CVs to do so are just as easy as any other TCS decoder, so it should be pretty easy to make the yellow wire the front light and the white wire the rear light.

You wired the orange and gray motor wires wrong. You can use CVs to reprogram the lights to come on whenever you want.
