DCC Ready just means they are easier to install decoders in. It does not mean they already have DCC installed. They are plain DC locos and will be fine on a DC power pack.

DCC-Ready loco's on Kato DC Unitrack?
Posted by MICHAEL STEVENS on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 5:29 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to Model Railroading and am 'testing the waters' sort of speak with Kato's N-scale unitrak. Kato has some really great-looking F2's that are equipped with a 'DCC friendly mechanism' that I'd like to run, but is there any risk to running a loco like this on Kato's General DC Conroller?

DCC still seems WAY over my head, but hopefully with time (and lots of reading) I'll be able to tackle it. There's so much information out there, I'm trying not to get overwhelmed all at once. Baby steps, right?

I'd appreciate any advice you all might have. Thank you!
