Soldering Tip Maintenance (and a Shout-Out to H & N Electronics)
Posted by peahrens on Saturday, January 9, 2016 9:29 PM

I was gearing up to use my soldering station for use today.  I googled an old trains.com thread and decided to order some flux and tip cleaner (tinner?) from H&N Electronics that Randy Rinker recommended.  I'm used to burning up cheapo pencil iron tips quickly to a cruddy nub, so decided to do better to maintain the new temp controlled tips.

Here's the reference thread:

I ordered from H&N Electronics but mistakenly ordered the liquid flux, when I wanted the gel.  I e-mailed H&N as soon as I ordered.  The fellow soon after said he saw my e-mail, changed the order, not to worry that it was near $2 more, and it was on it's way.  So, I have to recommend the service at H&N and thought I'd point out their products for effective hobby soldering.
