NCE power pro operating inconsistently
Posted by PAUL JOHNSTON on Monday, January 4, 2016 7:51 AM

i have several locos of different brands operating on my NCE power pro cab layout. One loco responds to all commands, one just power and no sound, all the others do not respond Either not at all or with just lights. Any suggestions as to what the problem/ fix is? Many thanks in advance.

Paul,

What brand decoders are in the problem ones?

Generally, issues like this are often corrected by doing factory resets on the decoders of the problem locos. This does vary some between decoders in terms of what CVs are used.

Another cause can be that the locos were consisted together at some point, then they were moved to your system or broken up on it without being de-consisted.

Might be something else but for a reset.

Reset the decoder.

CV 30 to 2 (or CV 8 to 8)

Cycle power to decoder. It should run on address 3 if successful reset.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

I have no such problems on my NCE PH-Pro system.

Is your command station new?

Had the locos all operated correctly at one time?

Tell us more about your command station, types of decoders, and details about the timing and extent of your problem.
