I very much appreciate the feedback. I am looking for simple and am beginning to think maybe MRC is my best choice. Great help!
MRC DCC since 2004 for me, Affordable, reliable, easy to use. A couple times, programming a loco didn't seem to "take.' Another try and and it worked each time. Likely something I overlooked the first time. I enjoy the feel and use of the hand-held. I've heard of the power switch issue, I guess the idea of using a master shut off to avoid this is good.
Hi.
I have been using my MRC A2 now for 5 years and have the MRC booster as well. The control of locomotives and accessories is very intuitive with a display that is easily legible. CV's are easily programmed on the Main and on the Programming track. Consisting is also easily achieved with only a few steps. The only issue I have is the on/off switch on the main console does not function anymore (it is now in permanent on); I have the console connected to a power strip. I recommend the system.
All the best.

I am about ready to convert to DCC, and for the past year have been doing a LOT of research, which has included talking to lots of DCC users, reading forums and websites on DCC AND actually reading the manuals from each manufacturer (good info). My 2 finalists are the zephyr and advanced squared. Digitrax is most common in my area, but A2 seems to be the simplest to use and I am looking for simple, won't be running turnout motors, routing, etc, just train operations.
With that said, MRC seems to get a fair amount of bad press, but since I have been using their DC products for 30 yrs, i don't have any bad to say.
I would really like to hear from A2 users on what they like and dislike and if they are happy with their decision.
My huge HO railroad is 13 x 13 and is usually a 1 or 2 person affair, so I don't need the capacity of a lot of operators.
Thanks for your input.
