Atlas SD35 factory DCC problem

 If this is one of the older releases, that's not a dummy plug, it's a jumper that needs to be plugged in one way for DC opreation and another way for DCC. If it's removed completely the loco won;t operate at all.

Atlas SD35 factory DCC problem

I picked up an HO Atlas SD35 with factory DCC at a train show today. Get it home and remove the dummy plug for DCC operation. Place it on the programming track and read back address, I get an error 02 reading. This generally means a decoder installation problem. 

Before i go any further does anyone know if there is a known problem with thsee locos and it is best it goes to Atlas for service? Otherwise it will have to be shell removal and look for anything obviously wrong. 

Appreciate any suggestions before I go any further.
