I think you nailed it. I was just letting them run while I was doing some other duties. I will report if other problems arise. Thanks to all of you that were kind enough to respond.
I have NCE Power Pro on the layout controlled by JMRI. I use WiThrottle, since that's what my hand-me-down throttles are, iPhones. I can grab a unit from the NCE radio trottles and vice versa without any problems.
Old Fat RobertThe issue I am facing is after a little while of running, engines controlled by the cell phone just come to a stop. The lights and any sound options continue to function.
Are you just letting the trains run without touching the throttle? They will time out without user input, sort of a poor man's dead man switch as the throttle goes to zero. The delay before that happens is usually adjustable on the NCE units, not sure about Android devices. I haven't found where it is again on my iPhone, so maybe is in the WiThrottle server in JMRI?

I don't think so. I am quite sure that I removed all the tethered throttles from the layout for test purposes.
I am testing the idea of using android devices such as cell phone and or Kindle HDs to operate my layout. The base system is the NCE Power Cab augmented with the SB3a booster. Both the devices operate the engines quite well. The issue I am facing is after a little while of running, engines controlled by the cell phone just come to a stop. The lights and any sound options continue to function. The computer is set on never sleep. Ideas as to why this happens and what can be done about it? Thanks you very much
