Connecting a DCS200 with 3-DCS50's as boosters HELP!!!!
Posted by tnlarry on Saturday, October 31, 2015 12:04 PM

I am new to Digitrax and have difficulty understanding the wiring process.  I have two dog-bone loops that connect together with switches for reversing and transversing.  They are double insulated from each other.  Then another independent trolley loop.  All are using Rail A and B as polarity.  The manuals show connecting the 200command to Rail A and Rail B, but how do the 50's connect to the 200 to serve as boosters?

Using the Loconet ports,A to B then B to C then C to D with RJ12 cables. You'll have to set your DCS50s as reversing boosters with the appropriate OPS switch. There are simpler and cheaper ways to do this........

You must have a really big layout if you need to add two boosters.

Is it a huge club or personal layout with lots of sound engines?

Unless you are running a heck of a lot of trollies you don't need more then 1 power source.

And if you have two reverse loops, you could get away with 1 auto reverser in the section between the two loops.

An 8 amp command station and three 3 amp boosters?  That is an astronomical amount of power.  You could probably run 50 trains at once.  Do you really need that much power?  Auto reversers are much cheaper and Power managers like the PM42 can divide up segments if your layout is large.  Perhaps a description or diagram of your layout would help us to provide you with the advise you seek.
