There was no need to create DCS in the first place.
If you feel the need to own an MTH loco, replace its decoder with a DCC decoder.

Hi, Guys
Calvin,
I'm reading theses post about MTH-DCS.
And my question is can you run a a MTH on a DCC, or Digitrax system, and i think from what I'm getting is maybe a NO, however I think if yes A LOT of WORK, and not feasible, or worth it. Didn't really want to start a new post if already in the general topic.
Thanks, Guys
I see some familar faces out there
Sure - in the end the loco still has a DC motor driving the gears. If you remove the DCS electronics, you are left with a loco with 4 pickup wires and 2 motor wires.
Some of the MTH locos were sold as DC versions. Don't recall if they had 8 pin plugs, but you can hardwire a decoder in anything.
The other thread on this is old, but the same thing still applies - I don;t see add-on DCS receivers to convert your own locos. That may not be an issue if you are the collector type who just runs anything, but it makes it pretty much impossible for someone who wants to model a specific protoype to use DCS.

Yeah the locos are nice, but DCS?
I wonder if it is possible to convert the DCS crap to DCC by swapping out whatever for a DCC decoder.
You might be aware of this but here is some info. Little old but things may have improved.

MTH does have some nice locos.
If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

I am new to the hobby and studied DCC wiring but then tried to learn DCS. Can't find at lot of info. How is polarity reversing handled, and what are the channels on the TIU used for? If layout has more than one block do you need a TIU for each block?
