Digitrax Slot max help
Posted by SWA737 on Sunday, July 5, 2015 11:15 PM

A few months ago the tech at Digitrax went through the steps for clearing the computer with me.  I copied them down exactly how it was done the first time. For some reason earlier today, my Digitrax went to slot Max even though I have not been running that many locomotives on the railroad and I have been  dispatching them out each time. Very confusing.  I must've done something wrong trying to clear it today because now it seems to not be working properly at all. Could somebody please give me the steps on resetting the computer back to original Once again.  I have the DCS100.  Murphy's Law because Tuesday night I have my first operating session after three years of construction. Need help fast. Thanks Rob

Plug a throttle into the DCS100. Move the right toggle switch on the DCS100 to the ops position. Press the Switch Mode button (upper right button) on the throttle. SW-001- T  should appear on the display. Using the keypad enter the number 39 on the display so it shows SW-039 T. Press the C button at the bottom of the throttle which will then show SW-039 C on the display. press enter then move the right toggle switch to the sleep mode and after a few seconds return the right toggle to the run position and you should be reset. My DB150 beeps eight times to let me know it has been reset, but I don't know if the DCS100 does that. My clubs DCS200 does not beep when I do the reset which I do monthly. Doing the reset will break up any locos that are in a consist so they will have to be re-consisted.

Thank you so much for your help !  That worked.  From what I understand, to keep the computer clear, you go to Loco then dispatch then exit to take a locomotive out of the throttle.  When I do that, the screen goes to the word sel.  But when I select Loco again to put a new locomotive in, the old locomotive number starts flashing in the window as if it is still available to select. Does this sound normal and is it still actually out of the computer?  Also,  do you simply push disp  on the UT 4T throttles to release them?  I guess no way of verifying they are actually out of the computer in that respect?   Thanks, Rob

Rob:

It is normal for the last loco to appear on the screen. It isn't selected until you select it again. It has been dispatched. If you want a different loco just enter its address and select it. With the UT4 you push and hold the dispatch button while you unplug the throttle and then plug it back in again. The led will change from green to red indicating that the loco has been dispatched.

Thank you Joe.  I was doing the big throttle correct but not the UT4R. Will do that from now on.

If you have a DCS100, after doing an OpSw39 reset, change OpSw 44 to closed using the same process - this will reset the DCS100 back to 120 slots. After OpSw39, the DCS100 defaults to 22 slots.

Instead of OpSw39, you can do OpSw36 which just clears the locos in the slots. It does not clear consists or do a full reset on the DCS100.

Thank You Randy. That helps a lot.  I was wondering if there was a way to just reset the max slots and you answered my question.

Before you dispatch, you must make sure the speed is set to 00. If not at 00, the address will stay in the slot. Any address that is in a consist will also not be automatically cleared from their slots. Break consists up and zero speed on each if you want them cleared.

With a DT 402 throttle, the display should read 00 for speed. With a UT4 or Zephyr type throttle, set the toggle switch to center stop position to be sure speed is zero'd. Then do the dispatch procedure.

Very good points Martin. These steps are often forgotten.
